Anonymous asked: What is tetraplegia?
More commonly referred to as quadriplegia, tetraplegia is paralysis affecting all four limbs (“tetra”, like “plegia”, has a Greek root, whereas “quadra” has a Latin root - via Wikipedia). It’s a common misconception that all quadriplegics are paralyzed completely from the neck down, or that it is a result of severing of the spinal cord (which in actuality is a very, very rare occurrence). In reality, not only are no two injuries Identical, the same is true functionally speaking. Spinal cord injuries are complex and confusing, not only to the onlooker, but often to the sufferer as well.
